We are a paint by numbers manufacturer, not a trading company

Art Painting by Numbers is a paint by numbers manufacturer based in Tianjin, China, operating its own factory, its own production lines and its own in-house design team. Because there is no middleman between you and the machines that print your canvas, you get factory pricing, direct answers to technical questions and real control over lead times.

A paint by numbers kit looks simple from the outside — a canvas, some paint, a couple of brushes. In practice it is roughly thirty small manufacturing decisions that decide whether the customer finishes the painting or abandons it halfway. The weight and coating of the canvas determines whether the printed numbers bleed when wet paint touches them. The pigment load in the acrylic determines whether one coat covers a dark outline or the painter needs three. The temper of the nylon filament in the brush determines whether a beginner can hold a fine line or the tip splays after ten minutes.

We make every one of those components ourselves or with long-standing partners we audit, which is why we can quote a custom kit accurately and hold the schedule we promise. Our skilled workers handle paint filling, canvas stretching, kitting and packing by hand, and our professional designers convert any artwork, photograph or illustration into a clean, paintable numbered layout at no charge.

Every kit we produce: printed canvas, numbered acrylic paints, nylon brushes, a colour reference card and a line-art reference sheet.

Those three routes are supported by ten underlying services — design, manufacturing, branding, sampling, quality control, compliance testing, logistics, fulfilment, content and after-sales — all delivered from the same factory under one contact and one invoice. The full capability list, with the standard we hold each to, is on our services page.

Three ways to buy from us

Most customers arrive knowing they want paint by numbers but not which commercial model fits. These are the three, and they can be combined — a brand often starts on dropshipping, moves to wholesale as volume grows, then upgrades to full private label once the range is proven.

Wholesale

Bulk paint by numbers kits at tiered factory pricing, from our ready design library or your own artwork. Best for retailers, gift shops, marketplaces and established e-commerce brands buying stock.

Everything in a kit is customisable

When buyers ask for a "custom paint by numbers kit" they usually mean one or two components. We treat the whole kit as customisable, so you can change a single element or rebuild it from scratch.

Custom canvas with your logo

Cotton or cotton-blend canvas, printed with your numbered layout, your colour palette and your brand mark in the corner. Rolled on a tube, folded with protective interleaving, or stretched over a kiln-dried pine frame with your logo on the back stamp.

Custom high-performance brushes

Three nylon brushes per kit as standard — flat, round and detail — with high-elasticity filament that springs back rather than splaying. Handles can be natural wood, lacquered in your brand colour, or laser-engraved with your logo.

Custom paints

Water-based acrylic, non-toxic, matched to your artwork by our colour team against physical swatches or Pantone references. Standard pots are 3 ml; 5 ml and 8 ml are available for larger canvases or darker palettes. Pots are numbered, sealed with foil and vacuum-strip packaged so they survive transit without drying.

Custom reference paper and thank-you card

A printed colour reference sheet and a line-art guide card so painters can check their work without guessing. Add a branded instruction card in your languages, and a custom thank-you card with your QR code, review request or discount offer — the cheapest retention tool in the box.

Packaging completes it: printed gift boxes, magnetic-close rigid boxes, kraft mailers, window boxes, hanging hole for peg display, multilingual warning labels, barcodes, QR codes and Amazon-compliant FNSKU labelling. Full detail is on our OEM and private label page.

How an order runs, from artwork to delivery

Our standard process takes five steps. For a repeat design in stock, steps 1 and 2 collapse and we ship inside eight days.

StepWhat happensTypical timing
1. Brief & quotationYou send artwork, a photograph or a design idea plus your target size, quantity and packaging. We reply with a firm FOB Tianjin price.Within 24 hours
2. Free design & digital proofOur designers convert the artwork into a numbered layout and send a PDF proof showing the canvas, colour count, paint strip and box dieline.2–3 working days
3. Pre-production sampleWe make one physical kit so you can paint it, check coverage, brush feel and box fit before committing to the run.3–5 working days
4. Production & QCCanvas printing, paint colour matching and filling, brush assembly, kitting and packing, with in-line checks and a final AQL inspection.8–15 days
5. ShippingFOB Tianjin by sea, air or express. We provide packing lists, commercial invoices and any certificates your customs broker needs.Express 4–8 days, air 6–12 days, sea 25–45 days

Sampling matters more than buyers expect. A design that looks perfect on screen can produce 40 colours where 24 would paint better, or a section so small that a standard brush cannot fill it cleanly. Catching that at proof stage costs nothing; catching it after 3,000 kits are boxed costs everything. Our 14-point supplier checklist explains what to test when your sample arrives.

Indicative pricing

Prices depend on canvas size, colour count, brush quality, packaging format and order volume. These indicative FOB Tianjin ranges cover a printed canvas, numbered acrylic paints, three nylon brushes, reference card and retail packaging:

Shipping from Tianjin

Our default Incoterm is FOB Tianjin, which means we handle export clearance and deliver the goods alongside the vessel at Tianjin Xingang port; you take responsibility from that point. Tianjin is one of northern China's largest container ports and sits roughly an hour's drive from our factory, so inland transit is short and cheap — a real advantage over suppliers shipping from Guangdong, where domestic haulage to port adds days and cost.

We also quote EXW Tianjin, CIF, CFR and DDP to your door or your Amazon fulfilment centre if you would rather we arrange the whole journey. Paint by numbers kits are light but bulky, so shipments are usually volume-limited rather than weight-limited — a detail that changes which shipping method is cheapest. Our guide to FOB Tianjin and shipping paint by numbers from China works through the maths with real carton dimensions.

Frequently asked questions

The seven below are the ones we are asked most often. There are 77 in total, covering products, specifications, customisation, pricing, samples, lead times, shipping, compliance, dropshipping, payment and quality claims, on our full FAQ page.

What is your minimum order quantity?

100 sets per design for a custom kit, which is deliberately low so a new brand can validate a product before committing real capital. For our ready-made design library the MOQ is 50 sets. Dropshipping orders have no minimum at all — we ship single kits. Full tier detail is on the wholesale page.

How long does production take?

8 to 15 days from approved artwork for a standard custom order, depending on quantity and packaging complexity. Design proofs take 2–3 working days and a pre-production sample takes 3–5 working days. Repeat orders of an existing design ship in as little as 8 days.

Is the design service really free?

Yes. Converting your photograph, illustration or artwork into a numbered paint by numbers layout costs nothing, including revisions, when you place a production order. Our in-house designers optimise the colour count and segment sizes so the painting is achievable for a beginner rather than simply a mechanical trace of the source image.

Are your paints safe for children?

Our acrylic paints are water-based and non-toxic, and pots are foil-sealed. For products sold to children we arrange third-party testing to EN71-3 (EU), ASTM F963 and CPSIA (US) and REACH, and supply the reports with your shipment. Tell us your target market at quotation stage so the correct formulation and labelling is used.

Can I use my own artwork, or a customer's photograph?

Both. You are responsible for holding the rights to any artwork you supply; we do not reproduce third-party copyrighted characters, logos or celebrity likenesses. For custom photo kits — the highest-margin product in this category — we run an automated pipeline so each order produces a unique canvas from the buyer's own photograph.

What payment terms do you accept?

Bank transfer (T/T) with 30% deposit and 70% balance before shipment, PayPal and Wise for smaller orders, and Alibaba Trade Assurance if you prefer platform-backed protection. Established accounts can apply for net terms after three successful orders.

Do you supply anything besides paint by numbers?

Yes — diamond painting, felt painting, punch-needle embroidery kits and general art and craft supplies run on the same lines and can be consolidated into one shipment to save freight. Ask when you request your quote.
